Who Are We?
The members of the McRaven Road Church of Christ are a growing family of Christians devoted to going back beyond all man-made organizations, names, and creeds to the source of our faith: Jesus Christ. To do this, we believe and practice only as the scriptures teach. The Bible is the inspired, infallible word of God and is our only rule of faith and practice. We are a diverse group of Christians from all walks of life who are unified by our common faith in Jesus Christ.
We exalt Jesus Christ as the Son of God who left heaven, lived a sinless life as a man, and then willingly gave His life as a ransom to save us from eternal condemnation. This salvation is the gift of God’s grace through faith in Christ (Eph. 2.8-9). We teach what Jesus and His apostles taught regarding what one must do in order to receive the remission of his sins: • One must believe that Jesus is the Christ (Heb. 11:6), the Son of God, and confess this faith before others (Matt. 10:32-33; Acts 8:36-37) • One must repent and resolve to reform their lives to the example of Jesus (Acts 2:38, 17:30) • One must be baptized (immersed) in water, in the name of Jesus, for the remission of their sins (Acts 2:38; Mark 16:15-16)
We gather regularly for Bible classes of all ages both at our building and in each other's homes. Those who preach and teach are expected to “speak as the oracles of God” (1 Peter 4.11). We welcome the opportunity to study the scriptures with any who are willing to do so!
We stress the importance of living pure, godly lives in imitation of our Savior. None of us are without sin, but we strive daily to “cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God" (2 Cor. 7.1).
Our worship is likewise based solely upon what is taught by Jesus and His apostles: • We sing without instrumental music, as the early church was instructed to do (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16) • We observe the Lord’s Supper each first day of the week as a memorial of the atoning death of Christ upon the cross (Matt. 26:26-28; Acts 20:7) • We pray to our our Heavenly Father, which is led by male members of the congregation (Acts 2.42,1 Cor. 14.34) • We as members give free-will offerings each Sunday (1 Cor. 16.1-4) so the church's work can continue. (As a visitor, you will not be asked to make a contribution)
We are a family here at McRaven Road, and as family we care for one another’s needs, look after one another’s souls, and strive to please the LORD God in everything that we do.
